The Ord Area Chamber of Commerce invites it's members and those interested in joining the Chamber of Commerce to Coffee Connections on Tuesday, June 6 from 7:30 - 9:00 am - feel free to come when you can and stay as long as you would like. 

Enjoy your morning cup of coffee (or two) and learn how your business or non-profit organization can utilize membership benefits to their fullest potential. 

Interested in using ShopOrd to increase sales and expand your customer reach? Want to learn how you can use ChamberMaster to post job opportunities and promote events? Have questions about ChamberBucks? 

Chamber board member and staff will be on hand to answer specific questions.

Help stock local food pantries on June 6th with nonperishable food items and receive a free lunch from 11:30am to 1pm.

What we especially need: Pork & Beans, Soup, Sugar, Flour, Cereal, Pasta, Mac & Cheese, Sloppy Joe Mix, Paper Products, Hamburger Helper, Meat, and Monetary Donations. 

   

Story Time @ YOUR Library
June 7th     Recycling Fun

On the 1^st and 3^rd Wednesdays

All children ages birth to toddler years are welcome to attend.  During story time children and their parents and or caregivers will gather on the main level of the library, listen to stories, sing songs and participate in activities.  

 

Information you need to know before the fun begins:

 

• A registration form is needed for each child to participate. 

 

• Plan on attending story times with your children or have another adult with your children at all times.  This is a very young group and will require all hands on deck to make the program go smoothly.  It is also a wonderful opportunity to have constructive time to interact with your child.  

 

• Two times are offered to accommodate all parents' schedules. It will be the same program during each time frame on the same day.  

 

• Like us on our Facebook page – “Ord Township Library” to see glimpses of your kids from time to time.  

 

• A library membership is not required to attend Story Time.  However, anyone wishing to check out books from the library must have a library card membership. Membership is free to those who live within Ord Township.  If you live outside of a three mile radius of Ord, there will be a patron fee to check out books.

 

• With such a wide range of ages attending, you will have to determine your child's ability to participate.  Maybe they aren't ready to sit in a chair and do a craft but they can sit for 10 minutes to listen to stories.  When your child is done please feel free to take them home.  

 

• We are offering this program during times that the library is normally closed to devote our entire attention to the children.   

 

Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska is having a donation drive in Ord beginning after noon on Wednesday June 7 and continuing 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day through Wednesday June 14, 2017 or earlier when trailer becomes full.  People in Ord and the surrounding area can drop off their donations at the donation trailer parked at the St. Mary’s School, 527 N. 20^th Street, Ord.
 
Virtually anything in your home or garage that you no longer use is accepted: clothing, household items, shoes, boots, purses, belts, hats, books, all computers, printers, monitors and computer accessories can be placed inside the Goodwill trailer.  Due to limited storage space, furniture, televisions and large appliances are not accepted.  Tax donation receipts are available at the trailer. 
 
Goodwill appreciates the generosity of the citizens of Ord and the surrounding area.  Revenue generated through the sale of donated items at Goodwill’s retail stores supports services for people in living in greater Nebraska. 
 
Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska’s mission is to help people with disabilities or barriers achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.  The organization fulfills this mission every day by supporting people to find jobs that match their talents and gifts, teaching skills leading to increased independence, helping people through the process of recovery and empowering people to focus on their strengths and abilities rather than a diagnosis or disability. 

Visit with Amy Lee, owner of The Boardroom, and celebrate Gerald John's retirement during The Boardroom's Grand Opening on Thursday, June 8 from 4:00-7:00 pm. A ribbon cutting will take place at 4:00 pm.

Join J&J Sanitation for a day of fun and giving! All proceeds will go towards raising funds for the J&J Sanitation Christmas Promise, that helps buy bikes and helmets for children in need for Christmas.

The event will include a bean bag tournament, grilling, and a raffle for a youth bicycle.  The grilled Burgers & Hot Dog Meals will be served at noon, for $5.
The Bean Bag Tournament starts at 10am. Please register in advance, all entries are due by June 1st with a $20 entry fee per team. Limited to the first 16 teams. Prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place teams!

The Nebraska Baseball Academy has selected Ord to host a summer youth baseball camp for ages 7 through 2018 high school graduates.

Ord is excited to welcome Tour de Nebraska back to Ord for their 30th Anniversary Tour! Hundreds of cyclists will be enjoying all that our community has to offer during their two-day stay in Ord.

It's Ord's 136th Birthday, Nebraska's 150th Anniversary and Tour de Nebraska's 30th Anniverary so there's much to celebrate! 

Community members and visitors are invited to celebrate with a cupcake and ice cream social at the Valley County Museum from 3:00-7:00 pm - all are welcome! Free will donations will benefit the Valley County Historical Society.

Tour de Nebraska is bringing The Bottle Tops to The Golden Husk and they would love for the community to join them! Enjoy some live entertainment, mingle with Tour de Nebraska cyclists and enjoy the festivities happening in Downtown Ord.
