Nebraska Grown Arts Festival
Join us for a celebrations of the local arts culture in the heart of Nebraska-the Loup Rivers Valley on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Tour art galleries in North Loup and Comstock and enjoy original works by local artists, along with art workshops featuring drawing and watercolor painting from 10 am to 3 pm. Shop on the Ord and Burwell downtown squares and the main streets of North Loup, Elyria, and Arcadia to experience the local culture of hospitality and retail.
Also, starting at 11:30 am, enjoy grilled hotdogs in front of The Husk and then join in the fun with free artistic workshops from 1-3 pm.
In the evening at 7:00 pm, grab your dancin shoes for a concert featuring classic country dance music by Lloyd McCarter and the Honky Tonk Revival band! As a bonus for concert goers, we will offer country dance lessons on Friday evening at 7pm.

Book Presentation with Author Todd E. Harburn
Join Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park on Saturday, April 6, 2024 for their book presentation with author Todd E. Harborn, author of "The Little Post Hospital on the North Loup River: The Medical History of Fort Hartsuff, Nebraska 1874-1881."
Dr. Harburn is an independent scholar, retired orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician. His detailed history of Fort Hartsuff's hospital is published by Heritage Books and includes a forward by retired park superintendent Roye Lindsay.
A silent auction will be held of several of Dr. Harburn's original paintings of Fort Hartsuff. Proceeds will be donated to the Friends of Fort Hartsuff.
All attendees will be entered in a free raffle drawing for an original painting! Copies of the book will be available for sale.
Refreshments provided.
The presentation is free! Vehicle park entry permit required.

Professional Landscape Photographer Michael Kish will introduce students to the dark side of photography...capturing the night sky! Students will learn the basic approach and photographic techniques necessary to capture the night sky's astro wonders. Students must be 16 years of age or older.
Items that students need to bring: To make the most out of the photography class, students should bring a digital SLR or mirrorless camera that has either a "bulb" mode or the capability to take interval shots within the camera. It's also essential to have a cable release with a lock, lenses, extra camera batteries, and memory cards if available. Lastly, a stable tripod is necessary. It's important to dress appropriately for the weather and bring additional layers, as the evenings can be chilly this time of year.

This kamp is designed for adults with developmental disabilities. Volunteer “Companions” are recruited to enjoy camp with and assist campers with their needs.

Culinary Camp
Culinary Bootcamp is an opportunity for high school aged campers to explore the world of culinary arts. This week long culinary intensive camp is designed to give those with a passion for the culinary arts a jumpstart to a possible career in the food industry. The bootcamp will be taught by culinary professions from around the country who bring their skills and talents to educate the next generation of chefs. The week long camp will include demonstrations, structured workshops and lab time, field trips to local farms and restaurants, and will culiminate with a final tasting menu created entirely by the campers and their mentors to be presented on the final day of camp. In addition, campers will have the opportunity to enjoy all of the recreational activities that Kamp Kaleo has to offer. Campers will receive a chef jacket, set of knives, and recipes.

Welcome to the first ever Robotics Kamp at Kamp Kaleo. This is the perfect camp for any child who loves both the outdoors and coding with robotics. No prior knowledge of coding or robotics is needed to come have fun and learn. This camp is designed for children entering 3rd through 6th grades. This shorter camp session might be a good option for those campers who are new to Kaleo or are going to be attending without a parent for the first time, in addition to children who just love robotics. Quilt Kamp for Adults
Quilt Kamp is back again in 2024! Whether you’ve been quilting for decades, or just bought your first sewing machine, Quilt Kamp is the perfect place to hone your skills, learn new techniques from fellow quilters, challenge yourself with a new pattern, or just finish that project that’s been sitting for too long in your craft room. There’s no better place to grow as a quilter than at Quilt Kamp. With ample time to experiment and plenty of experienced quilters happy to answer questions, you have every reason to stretch yourself outside of your comfort zone. If you’re new to sewing, don’t worry. Lots of campers learned to quilt for the first time at Quilt Kamp.
Accommodations for Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning is $300 ($150 if you do not need lodging) . Anyone 16 or older (if under the age of 19, needs to be registered with an adult) is welcome to join us for this self-guided weekend. Work in Progress (WIP) Weekend
If you enjoy making things, if you have works in progress that need to be finished, or if you want to create something in the company of others, this is YOUR weekend. Come together and create together, in the middle of Creation. While we encourage attendees to bring projects which may have been languishing for a while, starting a new project is an excellent idea, too! Work on your project at your own pace, enjoy Creation’s artistry throughout the grounds of Kamp Kaleo, and spend time in the company of others. Your schedule is dictated by what you want to work on – whether it be knitting, crocheting, writing, scrapbooking, watercolor, whittling, or any other creative expression.
Sleeping, meal, and workspace accommodations for Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning is $300. Anyone 16 or older (if under the age of 19, needs to be registered with an adult) is welcome to join us for this self-guided weekend. Bunk lodging, all meals from Thursday dinner through Sunday breakfast, and work space will be provided (there will be a limited number of workstations with electricity available, please notify Kamp ahead of time if you will need one of these spaces). Optional morning meditations and evening campfires will provide additional times for gathering together.
