Job Details

Valley County Health System has an excellent career opportunity available for a full-time Senior Systems Administrator to join our Information Systems team. The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the following duties:
  • Ensures effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
  • Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
  • Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers and partners.
  • Maintains and supports servers, workstations, backup and recovery devices and systems that support the organization's infrastructure including Windows and Application systems that support the clinical and financial operations of VCHS.
  • Identifies existing and/or future IT security violations using acquired security knowledge, previous experience, and available technological tools.  Provides administration of system access control, as required.
Education and/or Experience
  • Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the use and support of personal computers, file servers, network architecture and operating systems, and is able to demonstrate familiarity with the operations and support of networked peripheral devices.
  • Four (4) to Six (6) years Systems Administration experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience with hardware support including PC's, thin-clients, servers and network appliances.
  • Microsoft SQL Database experience helpful.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and self-directed work experience. Position deals with a variety of problems and sometime has to decide which answer is best.
  • Functions as a lead worker doing the work similar to those in the work unit; responsibility for training and instruction.
  • Must have advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Possess extensive knowledge and experience with network topology, design, function and support.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with network routers, gateways, firewalls, and application of VPN's in order to support the health systems need for safe reliable vendor access/communication
  • Experience with network printers and peripherals.
Certificates, Licensure, Registrations
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, MCSA, and MCSE certifications are desirable
